Introduction
Willow Ridge Studio specializes in collectable and everyday art created from wood turned on a lathe. Hardwoods
primarily from the Texas Gulf Coast region are used to create items produced by the studio. Woods used include
pecan, hickory, ash, elm, sycamore, sweetgum and, occasionally, red oak and come from trees that have died or
been removed because of construction. Mesquite from central Texas and mahogany from Central America are also
used.
This site has been created for your enjoyment and, if you are inclined to learn more about
wood-
turning, for
your education. Feel free to
peruse the gallery, read about the
process and equipment used, visit
the recommended
links and leave
feedback.

At last,
an update! Above are two recent pieces, both of pecan, on cut
shortly after the tree was felled and one which was allowed to spalt
before turning. See the

for other recent works.
In
addition to maintaining this website, I created one for my local woodturning
club, the Gulf Coast Woodturners Association. It's a large
site and took a lot of effort, but I'm pleased to report that it has
been well received. Take a look for yourself at: www.gulfcoastwoodturners.org
